It’s week 45 of my Declutter 52 Things in 52 Weeks Challenge. If you haven’t signed up yet, join me today as I help you remove all those things in your home you no longer need or use.
Board games have a sneaky way of being forgotten about, grown out of, or damaged, and with Christmas just around the corner this is the perfect time to get on top of this. Board games are a great way to have a giggle with your family and friends, so whilst you’re doing this week’s declutter task make sure you keep in mind what new board games you could give your kids as a gift this Christmas. I love sitting down to play a good board game on Christmas Day!
The Declutter 52 things in 52 Week Challenge is completely FREE! I publish a new task on the blog each Wednesday. Sign up to my daily emails so you don’t miss when the next task is live. Alternatively, visit the blog each Wednesday to see the latest task.
Please share a photo of your space each week on Instagram using hashtag #declutter52 and tag @theorganisedhousewife
Decluttering Task #45
Board Games
We love board games in our home. We played them regularly with the kids from when they were very young, and now that they are teenagers we still find the time to play once a fortnight. It’s a great way to interact with the kids, and we always have a good laugh. With Christmas coming up, now is a great time to look at what games you have, what the kids have outgrown, and what board games you could consider gifting this Christmas.
TODAY’S TASK: PURGE AS MANY BOARD GAMES AS YOU CAN
Note: My definition of purge – sell, donate, repurpose or throw away items as you see fit
- Look at your board games and see what storage solutions aren’t working.
- Remove all your board games from their storage, grouping like items together.
- Determine what board games you haven’t used in over 12 months and consider purging them.
- Purge game that are broken and can’t be fixed, have pieces missing that can’t be replaced, that are double ups, or that the kids have outgrown.
- Add any new and/or your current storage products in your cupboard or bookshelves to help you keep your board games organised.
- Place board games you don’t use often towards the back.
TIP: Start a board game tradition with your family, like a Sunday afternoon game complete with snacks and giggles!
