A few weeks ago the kids and I were craving popcorn, I had the microwave kind in the pantry, but they tasted rather bland so I asked the community on Facebook what they do to flavour their popcorn? There were some very interesting and strange suggestions, thought I would share them all with you.

Creative ways to flavour popcorn
- Butterscotch
- Maple syrup
- Butter and salt
- Icing sugar
- Salt and icing sugar
- M&M’s when popcorn is hot
- Coconut oil and coconut sugar
- Pink salt
- Butter and chicken salt
- Chilli flakes
- Oregano flakes
- Twisties
- Vegeta
- Olive oil, smoked paprika, dried oregano and garlic salt
- Coconut oil and herbamare (healthy)
- Cinnamon
- Melt brown sugar and butter
- Butter and honey melted
- Nuttlex butter
- Crunchy peanut butter mixed with honey
- Soy sauce
- Banana chips, white chocolate chips, and macadamia nuts
- Butter and taco seasoning mix
- Castor sugar
- Chocolate
- Maltesers
- Hot sauce
Personally I just like the good old buttery salty popcorn.

I have fond memories of Mum and I sharing a bowl of popcorn flavoured in icing sugar.
Love memories like that Briohny!
I love the icing sugar and salt idea. I really like sweet and salty popcorn and that sounds like an easy way to have it homemade.
Ooh sounds yummy!
Freshly grated parmesan… so so good!
Ooh that sounds yummy, Hailey!
being dairy free the kids usually have chicken salt, or if I will make it coconut caramel (dairy free). We also just braught cinnimon sugar for them.
Usually we have the popcorn plain, air popped out of the machine. But if it is a special treat, I add sultanas, diced dried apricots, banana chips and honey flavoured tiny teddies to the mix.
Love your idea Amanda, sounds delicious.:)
I do half butter half coconut oil and some salt. Sometimes a sprinkle of nutritional yeast as well. I find the coconut oil lightens the butter up a little.
Ooh i am liking the sound of using coconut oil! I will have to give it a try next time, thank you, Alex!
