Door handles can get dirty and harbour germs. I share with you how to clean door handles and finding a solution so you don’t forget to clean them.
Like light switches, door handles are touched so often and as you can imagine dirt and germs will be left behind ready for the next person that touches it. Cleaning door handles can be a forgotten task, not making it to your regular cleaning routine. A good idea is to swiftly walk through the house next time you are stuck on the phone and give them all a wipe over. It won’t take you very long at all.
I am asked regularly how often this task should be done. I don’t include it in my cleaning routine, I usually do it when waiting for something to finish cooking in the kitchen or when on the phone. Or you could add it to the kids chore list as this is a very easy task for them to do!
Kat’s tip: Set yourself up with a cleaning kit and use these cleaning checklists to help you remember regular cleaning tasks and create a routine to suit you.

Awesome tips! It’s good to have someone remind you about these things, because it’s proven, that many home owners completely forget to clean such things. And the door handles and knobs are only the beginning – keys, phones, TV remotes, light switches, our sunglasses, and a lot more things. We just don’t take them into account when we think about cleaning, and they often are left neglected. And they shouldn’t, because these things gather lots of bacteria.
I totally agree.:)
Question: I live up on Tamborine Mountain and as a resident, we suffer badly from mold up here with all the rainforest around us. I am concerned about having fabric and liquid in a jar, can you confirm that it will stay fresh and not go manky inside the jar?
Farah, i can honestly say i have never had it go yucky on me. Always has that fresh clean smell for me.:)
