My definition of purge – sell, donate, repurpose or throw away items as you see fit
Old receipts
The end of the financial year is approaching, it’s time to start getting all receipts in order. You can read further how I keep my receipts organised and 5 simple tools to declutter home finances, my bill organiser plays a major role in keeping this all organised.
It’s this time of year I go through all my receipts, I don’t need to keep receipts for groceries, clothes, fuel etc (I don’t purge these after I get them, I hold onto them just in case there is a discrepancy with my credit card, they could be purged after the credit card statement has been received… if I can remember). However I do keep my eye out for receipts where I may need it for a warranty claim, such as an electric fry pan or new dryer. From a business point of view I keep all receipts related to my business to pass on for tax time.
Todays task is to:
Sort through your receipts and throw away or shred (for security) all receipts that you no longer need to keep. You could do this in front of the TV one evening.
How many items have you been able to purge today?
I would like to see a photo of your purge pile on Instagram, use the hashtag #declutter52
