Here’s a little revelation for you all: in past years, I might have read one book a year, if that. Reading just wasn’t my thing. However, late last year a tweak to my bedtime routine in an attempt to improve my sleep quality has changed everything. This year, I’ve already devoured six books and counting! I have to admit, I’m quite proud of this newfound habit. Reading has become a delightful way to decompress after hectic days, and a perfect medium to quiet my perpetually buzzing mind.

Are you a bookworm who loves to read and watch movies? Do you eagerly anticipate when your favourite books are brought to life on the big (or small) screen?

I wasn’t sure what book I wanted to read next and I thought I would research what amazing stories are being adapted into films and TV series in 2023. From classic novels to contemporary bestsellers, I’ve listed a few books being made into movies and TVin 2023.

BOOKS BEING MADE INTO MOVIES AND TV IN 2023

“The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah

This unforgettable novel of love and strength in the face of war has enthralled a generation.

With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women’s war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France–a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Ten years later, one sister lives with her black daughter in the same southern town she once tried to escape. The other secretly passes for white, and her white husband knows nothing of her past. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship and a great forbidden love.

I hope that this collection of books being made into movies or TV in 2023, will spark inspiration for your next read. Among my own reads this year was “Apples Never Fall” by Liane Moriarty, which I believe is currently being filmed on the Gold Coast. I anticipate it will likely grace our screens in 2024.
