My Kindle Unlimited Review: Is It Worth It for Everyday Readers?

If you’ve read my post about why I love my Kindle, you’ll already know how much it’s changed the way I read. I used to struggle to make reading part of my everyday routine, but since getting my Kindle, it’s become something I look forward to each day, especially at night. It’s also what led me to look into Kindle Unlimited, which I’ll share more about in this Kindle Unlimited review to help you decide if it’s worth it or not.

My Kindle Unlimited review after 6 months. How it works, how I save on audiobooks, and why it's helped me read more without spending more.

One of the things I love most is how I can adjust the font size to make it easier on my eyes. No more squinting at small text, I can make the font as big or small as I need, and the built-in backlight means I can read comfortably at night without waking my husband. It’s been such a peaceful change to swap out scrolling on my phone for reading a book instead.

But something else has made a big difference: Kindle Unlimited.

I signed up about six months ago when I realised that so many of the books on my book tracker were included in Kindle Unlimited. They were offering a 3-month free trial at the time, so I thought I’d give it a go and I love it!

What is Kindle Unlimited?

Kindle Unlimited is a monthly subscription from Amazon that gives you access to a huge selection of books. Once you’re signed up, you can borrow up to 20 books at a time and when you’re finished with one, you just return it and borrow another. There are no due dates, so you can read at your own pace. It’s perfect for readers like me who tend to get through books quickly and enjoy choosing something based on how they’re feeling in the moment.

Why I think it’s worth it

I read a lot, so having unlimited access to books has been really convenient. But the big bonus for me has been how it’s saved me money on audiobooks.

How to save money on Audiobooks with Kindle Unlimited

Here’s my little trick: when a book is available on Kindle Unlimited, you can often get the audiobook version for just $3.99. That’s so much cheaper than buying the full audiobook outright or using an Audible credit. I love listening to books while I’m walking, cooking, or even tidying the home — so being able to get both the eBook and the audio for a low price has been a lovely little win.

How I Keep Track Of It All

I’ve added a column in my book tracker to mark which books are available on Kindle Unlimited. It makes it easy to filter when I’m looking for my next read, and helps me make the most of my subscription. I love that I can just sit down, scroll through my list, and pick a book without spending any extra.
