Life’s too short to be scrubbing floors every day, especially when there are tools that can help make the job quicker and easier. I was sent the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner to review (this isn’t a paid review), and these are my honest thoughts after using it around my home. While this is the first wet/dry floor cleaner I’m reviewing here on the blog, it’s not the first one I’ve tested, so I had a good idea of what to look for and was curious to see how this Ryobi model would hold up in everyday use.

What caught my attention straight away was the cordless design, the handy self-cleaning function, and how seamlessly it fits into the Ryobi ONE+ battery system, which is perfect if you already own other tools in the range. Over the past few months, I’ve put it to the test on everyday messes, pet hair, bathroom grime, and more. Here’s how it’s held up.

Ease of Use & Design
Setting it up the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner was quick and simple thanks to clear instructions. I appreciated that it stands upright on its own and feels sturdy while in use. It is on the heavier side, which might be something to consider if you prefer a lighter appliance. The head doesn’t swivel, so a little more arm movement is needed while cleaning. That said, it still moves smoothly across the floor and feels solid and well-built.

Cleaning Performance
It handled fresh messes well. daily dust, spills, and light dirt were no trouble at all. For kitty litter, I did need to go over it twice to fully pick it up, but that’s often the case with heavier debris. Pet hair in the bathroom also needed a second or third pass to pick it up. Dried-on messes took a bit more time and a few extra passes, but once loosened, they cleaned up easily. It reaches right along skirting boards nicely, though like many floor cleaners, it doesn’t quite reach into tight corners but that’s to be expected with this style of appliance.

Features & Technology
I really appreciate the thoughtful features Ryobi included. The self-cleaning function, activated by foot, is quick and convenient. I love that the dock stores the spare mop head and filter, keeping everything neat and easily accessible. I also like that the dock doesn’t need to be near a power point, giving you flexibility with placement. While the battery was a little firm to remove initially, it’s become easier with continued use, and the cordless design is a real plus.
It also has multiple cleaning modes, including a suction-only option, which is handy when you don’t need to mop. It’s designed for hard floors, so not suited to carpeted areas, but perfect for tiles, vinyl, and hybrid floors.
Features the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner includes:
- LED Headlights: It is equipped with bright LED headlights that illuminate the cleaning path, making it easier to spot and clean hidden dirt and spills, especially in low-light areas or under furniture.
- Plush Wide Brush Roller: The wide roller design allows for efficient cleaning, covering more surface area with fewer passes, and it cleans right up to the edge, ensuring thorough cleaning along skirting boards and walls.
- SWIFTClean™ Technology: This feature dispenses cleaning solution evenly across the plush roller bar, enhancing the mopping efficiency and ensuring consistent cleaning results.
- MAX Cleaning Mode: For stubborn messes, activating the MAX mode provides an extra boost of cleaning power, tackling tough spots without additional manual effort.
- Separate clean & dirty tanks for continuous clean water mopping.
- Powered by RYOBI’s ONE+ system the same battery can be used by more than 200 products, allowing users to seamlessly switch from cleaning to camping and DIY.
- Up to 35 Minutes Runtime: When using the included 4.0Ah battery, the cleaner offers up to 35 minutes of continuous runtime, allowing you to cover larger areas without frequent recharging.

Maintenance & Cleaning
The clean and dirty water tanks are easy to manage. The dirty tank has a middle section that catches hair, which means you’ll need to clean it out now and then, but nothing too difficult. I’ve had no issues with clogging, and a quick wipe around the base of the unit after each use helps it stay fresh and ready to go. I love that the mop head can dry right in the base, and every few uses I give it an extra rinse and pop it in the sun to keep it fresh.

Noise Level
It’s similar in volume to a regular vacuum, and while it gets slightly louder in Max mode, it’s nothing unexpected. Probably not one to run while the house is sleeping, but fine for everyday use.
Value & Accessories
The Ryobi kit is well-equipped with an extra mop head, filter, cleaning solution, battery, charger, and self-cleaning tray. It’s priced on the lower end compared to others in the market, and for what it offers, I think it’s a great option. It provides solid performance and helpful features, especially if you’re already using the Ryobi ONE+ system at home.

Pros & Cons
The self-cleaning function is a great inclusion and helps keep the mop head fresh between uses, though the cycle is quite short and the roller does stay a little damp afterwards. The dirty water tank works fine but could be easier to clean out, especially when hair collects in the middle section. The unit itself feels solid and well-made, but it is on the heavier side and doesn’t have a swivel head, so it takes a little more effort to move around tight spaces.
If I could improve anything, I’d love the option to use my own cleaning solution, and maybe a more neutral colour palette, although the bright green is true to Ryobi’s well-known brand look.
Final Verdict
This Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Wet & Dry Hard Floor Cleaner is a helpful tool for busy homes, especially if you’re already using the Ryobi ONE+ battery system. It’s ideal for quick, cordless cleanups, whether it’s after mealtimes, little spills, or pet messes. While it may not replace your regular deep clean, it absolutely makes keeping on top of daily messes so much easier. It’s a more affordable option compared to similar appliances, and if you’re after something to reduce the effort of mopping and vacuuming, this could be a great fit.
