I love baking biscuits for the holiday season. But with family and friends living far away, we often end up with huge piles of cookies hidden away in the cupboards. It was only a few years ago that it occurred to me that, with a bit of thought, it would be easy to send cookies in the post to my family!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANow, it would be really easy to send cookies in a plastic box. They’re air tight, the biscuits will stay fresh, they won’t get crushed. But it looks boring. (Even if you could find the ribbon stash to wrap something around it.)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt doesn’t cost a lot of money to ensure your biscuits are well protected. A quick look in the cupboards and I found cardboard ice cream containers (plastic ones would work, too); milo tins and chip containers. Just be aware that cookies travel best if they’re jam-packed into the container, so the bigger the container, the more cookies inside, the heavier it will be to post.

My favourite way to send cookies is in a small hot chocolate tube.

A quick wrap around with Christmas paper or scrapbooking paper, and the tube is transformed into the best method for sending biscuits to family and friends. My sister loves getting my cookies each year; she’s already asking when they’ll arrive this year!
