Puppy Chow – Chocolate Peanut Butter Snack

Looking for a fun and delicious snack that your kids will love? I am sure you will love this Puppy Chow recipe! This chocolate-based treat is a huge hit in America, and it’s a favourite in our household too.

While this Puppy Chow is not a healthy snack, it’s the perfect indulgent treat for special occasions. When I first told my friends about Puppy Chow, they were sceptical – but once they tried it, they were hooked too! You can make a big batch to share at your next party or picnic. I’ve also made it at Christmas, here is my Christmas Puppy Chow version.

You’ll need Kellogg’s Crispix cereal, chocolate melts, peanut butter, butter, vanilla extract, and icing sugar to make this Puppy Chow snack. That’s it!

This Puppy Chow recipe is a great one to make with your kids. It’s so simple. I pour cereal into a large bowl. Then, melt the chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Start with 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Crispix, and mix with a spatula until all of the cereal is coated.

I put the icing sugar in a ziplock bag, as I find this is the easiest way to coat all the cereal. Then add the chocolate-coated cereal. Seal the bag and shake until each square is coated with sugar. This can be done in batches to make shaking in the ziplock bag easier.

Once the cereal is coated with the icing sugar, spread them out on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Let it cool and set for at least 30 minutes before serving.

You can add more icing sugar to lessen the chocolate sweetness for a less intense taste.
