This savoury mince recipe is quick to make, comes packed full of veggies, and my kids absolutely love it!
Savoury mince makes me a little nostalgic – when I was younger I visited my Nan every Tuesday for dinner, and more often than not she served us savoury mince with mashed potato and vegetables. These days I often make my own kids savoury mince for dinner, although when I do I usually serve it on toast – that’s the great thing about savoury mince, it’s so versatile!
It’s a super quick and easy dish to make – it only takes me 20 minutes to make.
I add in diced carrot, corn and peas, but you could use capsicum or zucchini if you like too.
This is a great meal idea for those nights you are needing a quick and easy dinner.
With the cold weather setting in, it’s a great time to start creating home-cooked meals like this one. For more hearty dinner ideas, be sure to check out my new cookbook!

Guess wots for dinner tonight? That’s right Savoury mince. Yum. Can’t wait to tuck into it. We’re having it in a bun….reminds me of the school tuckshop that use to serve it esp. on Fridays. Taste beautiful too. This is the recipe I’ve been looking for. Thank you
Diane that’s wonderful – glad to help! Hope dinner was delicious! Kat x
Going to give this one a go. Soynds [email protected]
It’s delicious Monica! Hope you love it too 🙂
I had never even heard of savoury mince til a few years back when I met a single dad and he taught me one of his staples for his lovely hollow-leg teens, and it surprised me how I did not know such a popular dish! It’s basically the same as yours here, but he always added a dash of soy, sometimes tomato (though i think that leans it towards more of a goulash, as I have also learned from my savoury mince experiences). Anyway, seriously cannot go wrong serving this dish for dinner and it can be prepped in so many ways! Sometimes I throw an egg on top 🙂 All ages fed, no complaints!
It’s a fab dish isn’t it Amanda?! So quick and simple – and you’re exactly right, the kids love it!
A slight spin on your savoury mince dish.
Put it as a filling in PUFF PASTRY! Just adds another dimension to your meal.
Add a side of tossed salad.
Sounds like a delicious idea Ingrid! Will certainly give this a go 🙂 Kat x
This is nearly the same as my beloved mums recipe. So tasty and good for you. Thanks for sharing. Am having this for dinner on this cold, blustery winters night.
Oh Bernadette this was a lovely message to read! I am so happy to hear that this recipe brings back memories for you too. I hope you enjoyed your savoury mince dinner x
This is a great recipe, I make it for dinner then have the rest for lunches through the week. I use a kilo of mince and if I am doing low carb change out the carrot and corn for green beans, spinach and mushrooms. Oh, I also add just a hint of chilli and a tablespoon of Dijon mustard, delicious, thank you !!
