Homemade Hot Cross Buns Recipes

A hot cross bun is a bun marked with a cross and containing dried fruit, traditionally eaten on Good Friday.  But the supermarkets always stock them so early, I swear I saw them the first week of the new year, which I feel takes away from the special treat they are for easter.  But then again, I do admit to buying them then too, can’t help myself.  However, easter eggs is another story, I definitely do not purchase them until Easter.

Have you ever made your own homemade hot cross buns?  I haven’t but would love to if i can find the time this easter. So I have put together a list of great homemade hot cross bun recipes I would love to try, I hope you find something you like amongst them too!

Thank you to my dear friend Carissa for sharing her Home-made Hot Cross Bun recipe.

Carissa doesn’t add the cross on top, so she calls them not cross buns LOL.  I have included Carissa’s recipe below (adapted from Thermomix’s EDC cookbook).
