Homemade Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoons (7g/1 sachet) dried yeast
  • 4 cups bakers flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, plus extra for brushing

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a large bowl with oil and set aside.
  2. Place yeast, water and sugar into a small jug and set aside for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl add flour and salt, make a well in the centre.
  4. Pour in the yeast mixture and oil.
  5. Use a round-bladed knife in a cutting motion to gently mix.
  6. Use your hands to combine dough.
  7. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  8. Leave dough in oiled bowl, cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside to prove in a warm place until doubled in size, for approx 1 hour.
  9. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead dough briefly to knock out the air.
  10. Divide dough into 3 and roll out to form round pizza bases.
  11. Set aside for 20 minutes to rise again slightly.
  12. Spread desired toppings over pizza bases and bake for 20-25 minutes in a 230°C preheated oven.
