Chocolate Almond Brownie Bliss Balls

This is a recipe partnership with Australian Almonds

I am yet to learn of someone that doesn’t actually like brownies. They are always on the table at our netball bake sales and birthday parties we go to, so they are clearly a firm favourite, being a nice sweet treat. However, as we are heading into winter and it’s easy to overindulge in comfort food I’ve created a healthy alternative. My Chocolate Almond Brownie Bliss Balls are chewy, soft, indulgent, chocolatey and oooooh so yummy!

Yes, you heard right – a healthy brownie!! Bliss balls are always so easy to make and help to satisfy your sugar cravings, which I usually have around 2pm. This chocolate almond brownie bliss ball recipe only requires 7 ingredients; almonds, dates, oats, cacao, cacao nibs, vanilla and coconut oil.

Australian Almonds are a locally sourced, homegrown product and are a healthy snack with a natural source of energy, making them a great addition to bliss balls. Almonds contain lots of healthy fats, fibre, protein, magnesium and vitamin E – making them a great snack to have on their own as well as in baking like these bliss balls I’ve made.

To make these chocolate almond brownie bliss balls, I blitz the ingredients on high speed in a food processor.

I like rolling my brownie balls in almonds for some added crunch. Who said brownies have to be unhealthy? My Chocolate Almond Brownie Bliss Balls are a chewy, soft, indulgent, chocolatey,  and oooooh such a good treat!

I store the bliss balls in an airtight container in the fridge for a week.  These bliss balls can also be frozen, although we ALWAYS eat them within a few days as they are THAT GOOD!!!!

Who said brownies have to be unhealthy? My Chocolate Almond Brownie Bliss Balls are a chewy, soft, indulgent, chocolatey, and oooooh so yummy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup almonds
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 12 medjool dates, pitted
  • 40g cacao nibs
  • 1 tablespoons coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Add 1/2 cup almonds to food processor.  Process on medium speed to crush for coating bliss balls. Do not over process as you do not want almond meal. Pour into a small bowl, set aside.
  2. Add remaining 1 cup of almonds, oats, cacao, vanilla extract into a food processor, process on high speed for 20 seconds.
  3. Scrape down sides of the bowl, add dates and cacao nibs and continue to processing on full speed for another 20 seconds
  4. Again scrape the sides of the bowl and add coconut oil, continue to process for a further 20-40 seconds or until mixture combines together (this may take a little while, keep blending until it happens).
  5. Stir through small bowl of almonds.
  6. Roll the mixture into small bite-sized balls.
  7. Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

These Chocolate Almond Brownie Bliss Balls are sure to satisfy any chocolate craving. I’m pretty sure that even the pickiest of children couldn’t refuse these balls of goodness! The oats provide protein and carbohydrate for energy, you’ll get a great amount of dietary fibre from the dates, a powerful boost of healthy fat and protein from the almonds, and the complex antioxidants found in cacao known as polyphenols help reduce ‘bad cholesterol’.  All these benefits while you’re eating something that tastes decadent and delicious!
