Hey! For once, I have all of those ingredients. 🙂
That’s what makes it so great!
Same here, Melissa – that never happens! I think I might make this for afternoon tea for my girls … looks yum!
This looks absolutely delicious.
The kids loved it in their lunchboxes, great snack for schoool.
In the oven as we speak – can’t wait to try it 🙂
Finally got around to trying this one ~ very popular in our house ~ thank you. Xx
Why oh why everytime I make slice then cut it up it crumbles……:( Made this was yummy but fell to bits.
Me too 🙁
I had the same problem so this time I added another egg and it has turned out great and not crumbly!
This recipe sounds scrumptious. Will be making it tomorrow for my kids lunch boxes.
I can’t have dessicated coconut. What would you recommend substituting for it as these sound delicious?
Oat bran
That’s a great alternative Kerrie
Hi for kids allergic to brown choc can we leave that out? and can we change brown sugar to raw? or no sugar at all? just for kids who have reactions to sugar things
My son has a nut allergy, so I made this without the chocolate and it was so good! In fact I have made it 3 times now 🙂 I am not sure about the sugar, but I would try it, I often substitute things if I don’t have something or leave stuff out depending on what I can make that is safe for my child. hope that helps!
my son is 17 with a severe peanut tree nut allergy , since age 3. I use ghiradelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips without a problem in all my recipes.
Fantastic! Thank you for the wonderful tip, Michelle.:)
You could always use a sugar free sweetener. I’m using one and I’m about to bake some now: my son has type 1 diabetes so I’m using stevia ????
i used white chocolate chips (Nestle, cocoa free. We can’t have cocoa either).
I’m from US what is Milo, please?
Milo is mixed with milk to make a milk drink that tastes like malt. It is similar to Nesquik but is more grainy. It is really yummy!
Can this slice be frozen?
Hi Simone, I would! I freeze everything.:)
Just made this for an after school snack. Girls loved it. Thanks 🙂
Hi Ollie, Ooh that is great. Glad your girls enjoyed them.:)
hi may i know – 1 cup is how many grams of the ingredient?
This would change depending on each ingredient. Not everything weighs the same.
I have just made the milo slice and was wondering if anyone had frozen this and if it still taste good when defrosted
Hi Bel, Absolutely! I freeze just about everything.:)
Hi wondering how to mix with hand or hand mixer??? Pls reply I m not good in baking but want to try this.
Hi Kirti, I just mix with my hands.I find it a lot easier and it combines all the ingredients well.:)
Thanx for the recipe ..looks great
It is so good.:) And a little bit addictive LOL.:)
Is the milo added dry? It just seems very dry the mixture? I added 1/4 cup milk to hold it together.
Yes I added it dry, it should work 🙂
Can we replace SR flour with whole wheat?
can this be placed in the freezer?
Nice, thanks. I replaced butter with coconut oil, flour with wholemeal flour, oats with muesli, chocolate chips with chopped cashews, and I cut the sugar out and used half cup rice malt syrup. Will make again, I may increase milo next time.
What are the measurements of a slice tin? Our boys LOVE Milo, so this will be a hit, no doubt.
they will love this then Teresa. A slice tin is 27x17x3cm, hope they enjoy it.
Just made this, looks just like the picture, kids love it and I have heaps to freeze.. Winner!!
so glad it’s a winner, love those kind of recipes!!
We dont have milo in our country..is there anything I can use instead or can I leave it out?
You can try Horlicks or Ovaltine if that is available where you live. Possibly even Nesquick but maybe reduce added sugar then
My kids are addicted to this, We freeze it for school lunches and make 4 batches at a time,
My children and their Mum love this recipe. Super easy and i also used 2 eggs. Combined nicely. Thanks
I made these with my nearly 4 year old yesterday and they were so easy and yummy! Amazingly we had all the ingredients already. I wasn’t sure what consistency slice should be when you take it from the oven. It looked too soft do I gave it an extra 8-10 minutes and then hoped it would firm up once cooled, which it did! Husbsnd is a huge fan of these also 🙂
Oh that’s great Vicki. So glad you and your family liked them also
Just made this and it was so good — super-quick, easy ingredients, and then just the right level of chocolate to make me instantly want to devour it alongside a cup of tea. As the comments suggested, I added an extra egg, just in case. Turned out perfectly. Will make it again!
[…] Here is the recipe for the same: https://theorganisedhousewife.com.au/recipes/Milo-slice/ […]
This is a big hit in our household, kids love it.
Mine always falls apart though, it’s very crumbly. I’ve tried adding extra butter and even blitzing the oats in food processor, it helps a little. I will try a second egg next time!
Hello from NZ! I made this today & was surprised how fast & easy it took me from start to finish. Would definitely make it again with less sugar & more Milo. Thank you xx
Glad you loved it Nancy! It’s so delicious! Kat x
