Ask, Believe, Receive – Make your vision board work for you!

Like I’ve mentioned previously when the kids go back to school is my true ‘new year’. One goal I had was to set up a vision board for 2018.  I used to have one in my old home which included images of the high school I wanted the kids to go to, visions to upgrade my kitchen and a trip to Disneyland… all goals I am super proud to say have all been achieved, except for the kitchen upgrade – instead we moved house, and I love my beautifully light kitchen compared to my old dark one.  I’m long overdue to update my vision board, so I made it a priority to put on together.  I find vision boards motivational to keep me on track as I can easily get distracted and lose focus of my main goals. Already I feel motivated, inspired and ready for the future success in 2018.

‘Ask, Believe, Receive’. Use a vision board to train your mind to think positively and attract those goals on your vision board and bring them to life.

The purpose of a vision board is to manifest and visualise everything you want in your life, everything you want to be, want to do and dream of. To display images that represent these things and visualise yourself reaching these goals, and achieving them. Whether you believe the philosophy of The law of Attraction or not, what we visualise and set our minds to, often become our reality. ‘Ask, Believe, Receive’. Training your mind to think positively and attract those items on your vision board and bring them to life.

Follow these steps below to create your own vision board. My biggest tip is to dream big and put everything you want on there. Like I say in one of the quotes I have on my vision board ‘I am worthy of my Dreams’….. YES, YOU ARE!!!

1. DETERMINE HOW YOU WANT TO DISPLAY YOUR VISION BOARD

Typically, a vision board is a cardboard or cork board full of collaged magazine clippings, images and quotes that inspire you. I like clean lines and tidiness so I have found a frame with several photo spaces to make one that is visually pleasing…. for me.  But you may like the collage look, choose whichever style is right for you!  My frame is from Harvey Norman, but you can also pick one up similar from Kmart.

2. FIND IMAGES TO PUT ON YOUR VISION BOARD

Anything that motivates, inspires and excites you. Find images on the internet or through your phone which is often where I save things that I may come across for later reference.  Images can be found by googling, searching Pinterest, Instagram or in magazines.

Things you may like to have on your vision board:

  • A photo of your loved ones – who you want to be around and spend your time with.
  • Relationship – Perhaps you want to rekindle your relationship, take it to a new level, plan a family or things to teach your young ones.
  • Health – Is there something you want to do to improve your health like an exercise regime or a healthy way of living?
  • Home – Find an image of your ideal house. Be specific about it, if you want a house on the water or with a view of the mountains, find an image of exactly that.
  • Business adventures and career – print a photo of your logo/brand.
  • Education – Is there something you want to study or pursue?
  • Travel – Destinations you would like to visit, whether it’s a local beach, cafe or an overseas holiday.
  • Finance and wealth – Do you want to be financially comfortable or earn a certain amount?
  • Personal growth – Affirmations about good health, wealth and positivity, something you want to do better at, a new skill to learn or habit you want to break.

3. GATHER IMAGES TOGETHER

Print your images on a high-quality printer in bright colours to create a vibrant, welcoming vision board that will draw your attention to it.  I’m using the HP Smart Tank 455 Printer which is super easy to set up, includes Wi-Fi Direct Wireless networking and comes with up to two years of ink.

Once you bring the printer home you can start using it straight away as it comes with 2 years worth of ink.  What I like is that I can see when I’m running low on ink, order ahead of time and easily refill the ink tank. It’s a fuss-free, mess-free process to refill the ink-tank, my son refilled it for me.

I printed a couple of photos from my phone to use in my vision board, which was super easy.  Download the HP Smart App for Android or Apple which then allows you to print and scan images from your phone direct to the printer. It’s all wireless so the kids can now print their homework from their laptop in their bedroom to the printer downstairs over the wifi network. Hasn’t technology improved so much! Through the app you can also keep your eye on ink levels and order more ink directly from the app.

I’m impressed with the colours and tones of all my images.  I’ve printed my photos on standard A4 paper and they look fabulous, I guess this is why HP is known as the world’s #1 printer brand!  I do quite a bit of printing (you know me I love a good checklist and motivational print) and one of the must have’s when I look for printers is borderless printing, which I feel is the icing on the cake for quality printing at home.

4. PLACE IMAGES IN FRAME

Think about the placement.  I wanted a few key affirmations and photos to be my big focal points and I included a photo of myself on my board, one where I am looking happy and healthy as I want to continue to radiate this feeling throughout the year.

5. DISPLAY YOUR VISION BOARD

Display your vision board in a place where you will be looking at it often.  Vision boards can be quite personal so rather than displaying it in the kitchen for all to see, you may like to have it in your bedroom, office or….. you’ll never guess where I am putting mine, I’m actually hanging it on a wall in my loo.  I have a big blank wall that I look at several times a day and I have always thought it would be the perfect place for a vision board!

This Teach My Kids print would have to be my favourite print on the whole board.  I want to teach my kids so much in life, but as they are getting to an age of independence I want to ultimately teach them to respect themselves, saying no is OK and they can trust me and tell me anything as I love them no matter what.

Another image you may see there in the middle of my board is some ladies having coffee and I place an Aussie symbol on it.  I have always had a vision to go around Australia to have a coffee with my community and chat all things organised. I would truly love to have this goal come to life.  Would you like to come along and have a cuppa with me, at some stage through the year?!
