{Meal Plan} Satay Chicken Rice + Giveaway

by Katrina - The Organised Housewife

This post is sponsored by Nuffnang

During the process of trying to get my house back into order I decided to be kind to myself and make easy meals that didn’t involve hunting for a recipe, too much preparation or dirty dishes. I’m a messy cook, somehow I use up the full kitchen bench, just for this week I didn’t want to mess up the kitchen too much as I wanted to wind down and relax.

Having easy meals doesn’t mean that we need to miss out on vegetables or order take-out.  Easy meals to me means:

  • preparation in 15 minutes or less
  • not many dishes to clean

This weeks meal plan

Monday – Mince Pasta Bake

Tuesday – Maggi So Crispy Chicken Schnitzels with potato and vegetables

Wednesday – Eggs on toast

Thursday – Maggi One Pan Satay Chicken Rice, double batch

Friday – last nights left overs

Saturday –  Fish, couscous and vegetables

Sunday – Sausages, potato and vegetables

BakingChocolate Scones

Meal planning tips:  How to meal plan & more meal plans.

 Maggi So Crispy Chicken Schnitzels

Place recipe base into zip lock bag

Beat egg, dip in chicken

Place one at a time in ziplock bag and shake

Place on lined oven tray, and bake in oven for 25 minutes.  No oil needed!!

Maggi One Pan Satay Chicken Rice

 Brown chicken, add in vegetables

Add recipe base, peanut butter, stir.  Then add water and rice.  Boil, then simmer

Satay rice is a favourite in our household!

While I’m not a mum yet, I have a busy life working two jobs, keeping the house clean, as well as feeding myself, hubby and our cat. Some nights I’m just too tired to cook a meal from scratch! I love the fact that meal bases help create a yummy meal with minimal effort!

Barry Morgan April 28, 2014 - 3:10 PM

Is your husband unable to contribute to keeping the house clean and providing food for the family?

Elise September 4, 2012 - 1:51 PM

I would love to try the So Crispy range because your schnitzel looks delicious and I would love to give it a go! Recently becoming a working mum, I need quick and easy (and TASTY!) meals to cook during the week for my family, and the new Maggie range looks just that!

anita duesterhaus September 4, 2012 - 1:54 PM

As a busy mum of seven, I am ALWAYS looking for quick yet delicious meals to feed my little tribe.

Hi. I have my hubby home sick for the next month and he can’t help out due to his sickness plus I work 5 days a week and we have 3 cheeky boys who make lots of mess so I definitely would LOVE to try these super easy quick dinners please!!

Nicole Edmondson September 4, 2012 - 2:33 PM

I would love to try these quick and easy meals that sound delicious and healthy. With a 3 year and a newborn dinner time is much easier when prep and cooking time is minimal – it means we can still eat a good meal but spend the time with the children that is so important at this time of the day!

Julie September 4, 2012 - 2:51 PM

Please please please choose me for some maggi samples(and if you don’t, never mind I will buy them anyway as they look delish). I’m 28 weeks pregnant, with baby 3 and I’m in the process of cleaning my house and stocking the pantry and freezer with easy food for my hubby to cook as I have been told to expect this baby any day now! I’m trying not to stress too much about it, but rather prepare the kids to not have mum or their new sibling around for a couple of months.

Rosana September 4, 2012 - 3:05 PM

They used to have a beautiful Butter chicken… I would love to try the satay one :-)) thank u for the opportunity and really enjoying the 20 day clhallenge :-)))

Kellie September 4, 2012 - 3:14 PM

Being a working Mum of 3 year old twins, I am constantly on the look out for yummy no fuss meal ideas for my fussy kids!

Katrina Harvey September 4, 2012 - 3:16 PM

Shift working hubby and young twins leaves us with very little time together so an easy meal would help wonderfully

Wendy Sutcliffe September 4, 2012 - 3:20 PM

I’d love to try the satay rice. My son is allergic to peanuts and I so miss eating satay chicken! I could make up the rice and he could have chicken nuggets instead! I like the idea of less dishes too!

Corlia September 4, 2012 - 3:31 PM

I have a very fussy husband so I had to come up with a week meal plan ages ago to keep us both happy 🙂
Mon: Butterchicken, bread rolls, steamed pumpkin
Tue: Spaghetti Bolognese
Wed: Grilled pork chops, mashed potato and fried cabbage
Thur: Slowcooker lamb (usually jumbuck stew), basmati rice, raw carrot sticks
Fri: Steak, baked chips, corn on cob
Sat: Chicken Casserole, basmati rice, raw celery sticks
Sun: Lamb chops, alfredo pasta, steamed mix vegies

pam September 4, 2012 - 3:33 PM

Looks yummy. I like to try out new things that are quick and tasty. Sometimes i will buy a pkt mix and the meat for it .ie chicken and wrap them together and freeze them. So when i look in the freezer i dont have to think, what i will make with that !!! It’s already there to go. Chicken crispy schnitzels.

KristyMark McGeechan September 4, 2012 - 3:40 PM

YUM quick easy meal for the nights hubby is going to be late home, will be easy to prepare earlier in the afternoon 🙂

Thanh September 4, 2012 - 3:43 PM

For a reduced effort and washing load yet still have a delicious home cooked meal for everybody? Maggi’s so crispy and one pan range is definitely for me!

pamperedstef September 4, 2012 - 4:39 PM

I’d love to win the packets. We are into trying new things in our house (still have to get the 4yo into that habit). Glad you are giving more than one away. I’m cooking for 8 right now and 3 have already flown the coop. 🙂

Dianne Taylor September 4, 2012 - 4:46 PM

Oh i am always looking for quick and easy meals that my husband AND young kids will eat and that i dont have to spend too much time and prep on. Would love to give these a go. Having trouble with the kids and meals it is a nightmare.

Vicki Mettam September 4, 2012 - 4:46 PM

With an 8yo & 4yo triplets, I need quick and easy meals that they’ll love. I’ve been curious to try the one pot sachets, but never seem to get around to it lol! But especially since now my kitchen is so sparkly you need sunnies to walk in it!! I don’t have the heart to mess it up!

A.K.A.Mum September 4, 2012 - 4:50 PM

LOL – I’d love to try both! I’m very lucky that my DH often cooks but it also means I have to listen to him whine about how he gets sooooo bored cooking the same things over and over – because he pretty much refuses to look at a recipe that has more than four or five steps in it :-S

Barbara September 4, 2012 - 4:57 PM

I would love to win the Maggi packs as i haven’t tried either product. The easier the meal is, the better. Cooking in one pan makes the job quick and easy. Not too much mess to clean up.

Fiasma.....and Flynny too! September 4, 2012 - 4:58 PM

Oh so many reasons why I need to a quick and easy way to prepare dinner….a few main reasons are I work 45 mins away from home so unless I am super organised dinner is always a late one and another and most important reason is my two beautiful children would like to be fed by a reasonable hour (doesnt happen often but when it does OMG does it make night time so much easier for this frazzled Mumma 🙂 )!

Colleen September 4, 2012 - 5:18 PM

One Pan Range sounds great for babysitting days..little helpers in the kitchen make preparing meals so much more fun and means they usually eat without fuss.

Abbie September 4, 2012 - 5:35 PM

crispy sounds good! crisping up the meat is the only way my Miss 2 eats meat at the moment.

vi lammertsma September 4, 2012 - 5:51 PM

Love my new clean kitchen and now can’t bear to mess it up with elaborate dinner cooking! These Maggi meals look so easy and appealing and even more importantly use so little dishes to prepare – would love to the One Pan range on the family!! Most likely will make it on to their favourite meal list for more variety! Looking fwd to putting my feet up with my family in the evenings for a change!

Inspired... September 4, 2012 - 5:55 PM

I always try to cook using one pot… love it… but to try some new flavours and find better ways to hide the greens from the kids is an added bonus to the quick and easy meal…. after all.. the less work mum puts in to cooking dinner… the more likely the kids are to eat it!

Nichole Atchison September 4, 2012 - 6:06 PM

I’m always after fast, tasty and healthy meals for our busy, hungry family. It’s always exciting to add something new into the mix at meal times.

Sarah Green September 4, 2012 - 6:18 PM

I am a single Mum, I like anything that will help me out at dinner 🙂 x

Caitlin Miller September 4, 2012 - 8:16 PM

As a new Mama I love the idea of these simple, tasty Maggi meals! Am loving the 20 Days challenge and am new to meal planning – so these Maggi meals would definitely take the pressure off planning and creating some yummy dinners for the next few weeks!

Nicole Payne September 4, 2012 - 9:01 PM

I have a 2.5yo and a 6mo, hubby is starting a new job, and I’m currently completing an online courses and your 20 day challenge (which has so far been successful!) so I love your quick and easy meal ideas and I love to try some of the one pan recipes!!

Ingrid September 4, 2012 - 10:53 PM

With a busy family, I need simple and easy ideas that make dinner prep less of a chore!

Shelley C September 4, 2012 - 10:55 PM

If i could use one pot to cook while the hubby is on nightshift, it means less washing up and more ‘me’ time with the remote, couch and icecream (after the kids are in bed of course)!

Leanne September 5, 2012 - 12:23 AM

Always looking for new and delicious ways to cook. Most of all it’s so quick and easy!

Heather Gruber September 5, 2012 - 2:28 AM

Who doesn’t need a break on dinner sometimes. These would make for quick meals at the end of a busy day.

Theresa Wilson September 5, 2012 - 3:40 AM

Family lunch or gourmet dinner,
The Maggi range is a certain winner
It leaves nothing to be desired…. except a second helping

susan September 5, 2012 - 6:29 AM

As I have just started working full time, I am really struggling to get myself organised with our family meals. With 3 VERY hungry boys to feed, the maggi satchets meal-helpers would certainly be a helper to me!!

Mandy Seeger September 5, 2012 - 6:42 AM

We have one pot meals at least twice a week due to after school activities, would be nice to add some new ideas into my regular “one-pot roation”

Jill September 5, 2012 - 8:25 AM

I am the most disorganized person you would ever meet lol my husband does most of the cooking and cleaning as i am the secretary of our local basketball comp and spend over 15 hours a week organising that alone. I would like to give him a night or 2 off from cooking and this looks great! And im sure my kids would love it 🙂

Suzanne Crawford Mutzelburg September 5, 2012 - 8:49 AM

I’ve wanted to try making schnitzels from scratch but was afraid of getting it wrong but your meal plan makes them look so easy!

Lauren Winzar September 5, 2012 - 8:56 AM

I work some nights and Hubby works late others, we are all getting sick of cheap frozen pizza for dinners because there is no time (especially with a little bub) to plan, cook and clean after a ‘proper’ meal. Also, we used to eat a lot of tomato based pastas but master 4 no longer eats anything red so my meal plan ideas have shrunk to less than half!
I would love to shake up our boring meals with a little Maggi magic!

Andrea D0ney September 5, 2012 - 9:56 AM

Iggam keen to try Maggi because sometimes my life is backwards! (Get it?) 🙂 Seriously when you don’t know whether you’re coming or going, when things are topsy turvy and the world seems upside down, there is nothing more magical than an easy meal.

Meg September 5, 2012 - 11:24 AM

We are such a busy family and on the run so often that i haven’t done a full food shop in months! I run in, grab the usual and out again. I honestly couldn’t tell u what new ranges were around if my life depended on it. Just seeing them in your blog has made me wanna go get some to try (but winning them would be even better 😛 )

Shandi Gibbons September 5, 2012 - 1:00 PM

We are non stop through the week, so to have such simple, yet tasty and nutritious meals to try with my fussy girl would be fantastic.

Jillian Marconi September 5, 2012 - 1:14 PM

I’d like to win either of these great Maggi products I work full time as a highschool teacher and I’m also planning my wedding. I am often running around at appointments or meetings so time is an issue and this is a perfect solution.

Kath Crispin September 5, 2012 - 1:54 PM

We have been much better organised with meals this week (your website is rubbing off on me!)Big batch of spag bol made on Monday while I was in the kitchen cleaning (so leftover meals from that). last night steamed chicken and rice balls with salad, tonight chicken cacciatore leftovers from the freezer, Thursday BBQ staek/sausages and Friday will be take awa (a luxury).
Always keen to try new things luckily Miss 5 is becoming quite adventurous and we are encouraing Mister 3 to do the same

Nikoly Richardson September 5, 2012 - 1:57 PM

I have seen these meals in the shop but have always put them back as my kids can be so fussy at times. Even if I do a chicken stir fry the youngest just wants the plain rice or noodles. It would be nice to try and get them to eat something different for a change. I get so deflated when I spend ages preparing a meal and they turn their noses up at it!!

Stacey September 5, 2012 - 2:46 PM

So Crispy!! I could totally just eat my computer screen right now! It looks yum! I just gotta taste it!

Teneal September 5, 2012 - 3:13 PM

I can be the most organised person at work but when I get home from a long day and being pregnant with baby #2 the last thing I want to do is spend ages in the kitchen. Looks easy to make which is what i need while the other half is away at work. Less time in the kitchen means spending more time with my son before the new one arrives.

Rachael H September 5, 2012 - 4:11 PM

Hi, I just recently found your website! I am terrible at meal planning and would love to try these sachets. I have 1 yr old twins and find it hard to get dinner organised for them let alone for myself & my husband. These seem pretty easy.

Leila Matthews September 5, 2012 - 4:13 PM

Hubby has started a whole new health kick and while i’m being very supportive and super proud that he is eating many vegetables he would previous not eat he is also requesting the same boring meals over and over as if eating bland foods will make him loose the weight he wants to loose all on its own.
I’d love to be able to show him with the same basic ingredients and a little help from Maggi we can have a tasty and nutritious meal full of flavour still keeping to his healthy eating plan.

Catie Kennedy September 5, 2012 - 4:37 PM

as a single mum of 4 kids, including 17mth old twins, I rarely feel the inclination to cook… nor do I particularly enjoy it these days LOL. These sachets sound like a God-send! Thanks for the chance to enter. Keep up the great work on the blog, I love it!

Teneale September 5, 2012 - 10:05 PM

My current goal is to start menu planning and writing proper shopping lists – and remembering to take the list with me to the shops! If I can make easy, tasty, good, family meals with the help of sachets then I’m in! I would love to try both of these – they sound delicious!

TanyaMB September 6, 2012 - 3:07 PM

Maggi One pan range I gotta try
So yummy off the plates it will fly
So crispy I might keep for hubby and me
When all my little ones snoring z to zzzzzz 🙂

Rachel T September 6, 2012 - 10:30 PM

That satay chicken looks amazing!!

I’ve actually gone on cooking strike,
creating tasty meals isn’t worth the fight.
Hubby says my cooking is blah
But Maggi one pan should shut him up!

Alyra Shaw September 7, 2012 - 9:07 AM

This looks so easy and with a baby due in the next few weeks looking for easy meals to have on hand ready.

Laurel Hermon September 8, 2012 - 10:34 AM

I love a one pan dish and hubby loves a schnitzel, the kids love chicken in all it’s forms, so we can all be winners at dinner time!

Kelly September 8, 2012 - 12:50 PM

This looks like a perfect meal for our little family, mr just turned 3 is starting to getting fussy so a tasty meal including meat and rice would be perfect for us.

Narelle Duffy September 11, 2012 - 6:36 PM

Wow! That looks tasty and easy! Would love to try 🙂

Jen Wilson Rodwell September 12, 2012 - 11:18 AM

I work full time with two boys who are the world’s fussiest eaters for 9 and 11, though they will eat satay chicken or any chicken and rice dish.

Caroline September 12, 2012 - 2:29 PM

Would love to win a Maggi pack I’m sure the family would love it!

Donna Maree Germon September 13, 2012 - 9:10 AM

I have 5 children who have a wide assortment of after school activities. I am often floundering at night trying to come up with meals they will ALL eat. I’d love to try these and see if they would turn dinner time nightmares into something more pleasant.
