i don’t have school ages just yet but next year i will and i’m already loving these. thanks!!!
I must look through your lunchbox ideas as I have a 7 year old who is such a fussy eater and hardly eats anything at school!! Although she does eat her sweet snack I pack for her each day!!
Yum. My only problem is my kids would eat all that for morning tea
This looks great. My 5 and 4 year olds have regressed from eating apples “like grown ups” to wanting them cut up for lunchboxes for school and pre-school. But my question is – how do you stop the wedges from going brown and yucky?
How divine does that cheesecake slice look – definitely trying this out this week!
Kaylene, one of the mums on the FB page said she cuts hers up and seals in cliplock bags and they don’t go brown. My mum says to squeeze lemon juice over them but another mum said orange juice does the same thing! That cheesecake slice looks sooo yummy!
I love simple lunch box ideas. Another lunchbox idea is “fork orange” – peel, cut, pack with fork
when my daughter moved to highschool a few years ago she stopped cutting her sandwhiches, and taking anything “sticky” including cake or fruit that requires fingers!
As she only gets 2 x 18 minute breaks (really 15min each because the school is huge with 1500 students!) so by the time they get to “their”area or accompany a friend to the canteen she says there’s little time to wash hands and feels more inclined to visit the facilities first thing or between classes rather than breaks, etc.
I started having oranges like this when i was working and used to keep a manicure. We use a some odd cake forks i got from an opshop just for this purpose. My 4yo likes orange like this too.
Also if you have a child with citrus allergy a quick rinse in water instead of OJ/lemon does almost as good a job of reducing browning if you really must worry about it.
Hello – can you tell me where you got your lunchboxes from? I love the compartments and am struggling with a prep who isn't eating his lunch. This might solve my problems!!
Thanls
I get them from Tupperware they are called sandwich keeper plus.
two tips to help stop apples going brown:
1. sprinkle with cinnamon and a little sugar (or skip the sugar)
2. alternate the apple wedges with orange wedges so that the ‘flesh’ sides contact each other. the orange acts much like lemon juice to stop the apples browning.
