My girls are getting together with their friends to celebrate Halloween this year. We have been searching for some Halloween Costume ideas and they are insisting on putting up some decorations. I’m so reluctant (I’m just not that into Halloween), but if they want to get their craft on, I’m not stopping them it’s good for them to be creative.

Now my kids are older I don’t mind them going trick or treating, I have noticed some community groups posting about community events being held on Halloween or the weekend after to keep the children off the street and in an environment they can still get dressed up, collect some treats and have some fun with their family, friends and neighbours. If you are interested in this, have a look at your local community Facebook page or your local city council.
Decorating the house
When I was looking for ideas for decorating the house, there were some very ‘out there’ ideas and I guess it depends on the individual and how far you want to go, but I have kept my ideas quite simple

Kat there are some great ideas here. Thank you.
Thanks MJC52. Appreciate your feedback. Are you going to use any of these ideas?
Great Ideas!
For the spider web balls do you soak the string in PVA glue?
Yes 🙂 and then wrap around the inflated balloon and let dry
Are you able to use mod podge to soak the string in for the web balls? And can I use yarn?
Soni I haven’t tried these options, but if you do please let me know how it works out 🙂
Help. I tries the spider web balls and was a flop. I wrapped the balloon in pva soaked glue around a balloon and it looked ok. I popped the balloon and the shape didnt hold and it all crumpled. Please can you advise what i did wrong or a step by step? Thanks and hope to hear from you.
Hi Jen, I am sorry to hear that they didn’t work out as well as you wanted. My advice would be to let them dry for a day or two before popping the balloon. Hopefully this helps. Kat x
Thanks so much for your response and advice. I will try again. PVA glue is like Elmers school glue, right? Also, did you use more like embroidery floss or regular string? Just really trying to figure out where i went wrong. These are super cute and what a fantastic decoration. Thanks sincerely for your time!!
Hi Jen, yes I would imagine Elmers school glue is the same. I would suggest a stronger string than embroidery floss too – normal string should work fine. Good luck! Kat x
