Growing up my family didn’t use Christmas/Santa Sacks, I was first introduced to them when I spent my first Christmas with my hubby’s family. I was 18 at the time and stayed over on Christmas Eve, their family tradition was that sacks were left at the end of their beds and Santa would fill them overnight with unwrapped gifts. I just loved that his mum continued with this after they stopped believing. Many families use Santa Sacks in different ways, here are some ideas:
Ideas for ways to use Santa Sacks
- Leave empty at end of the bed on Christmas Eve and Santa fills with wrapped or unwrapped gifts.
- Leave empty under the Christmas tree and Santa fills with wrapped or unwrapped gifts.
- Keep out of sight of children and fill with their gifts, then place under the tree after they have gone to bed on Christmas Eve.
- Place large gifts in a Santa sack rather than wrapping it.
- If you visit family on Christmas Day, fill a sack up with the families gifts

How to start a Santa Sack Tradition
Place your santa sacks wrapped at the front door, and leave a message inside mentioning that this is a special gift from the North Pole. It’s from this Christmas forward if you want to wrap the gifts inside or not each year.
