Don’t forget to pack away all your Christmas kitchen items

by Katrina - The Organised Housewife

Handy Tip:

With Christmas now over it’s time to start thinking about packing away all the festive decorations.  I know everybody is different for when they pack their decorations away.  We are early packers because my husband is very sweet to have it all away before my birthday (Dec 29th)

I just wanted to remind you to pack away all your Christmas cookie cutters, crockery, cups, platters, cupcake liners, tablecloths etc with all the decorations.  If you are able to pack these with the ornaments they won’t be in your way taking up valuable space during the rest of the year.

Where do you store all your Xmas decorations? We have learnt just recently not to store any Xmas candles in the garage as they melt in the heat. But I love your idea of storing all things Xmas together…. brilliant!

Ohhh I would love to pack away early. We have 2 Christmas Days. The 25th and the 7th (its Orthodox Christmas) My bday is on the 15th of Jan so we always have everything packed up by then.

I am almost ashamed to admit to having over 12 100L boxes of Chrissy Decos. I know its crazy and each year I try to cull but everything I have is soo beautiful and each has a place in our family history. I dont get everything out every year, instead alternating each year.

I use Samlaa storage from Ikea. They all fit together and come in heaps of sizes.

2011 is the year of me getting totally organised. Less shopping and more living.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Kat xxx

I've just started packing up the decorations, starting with everything that goes around the house and leave the big tree until last (It usually comes down January 1st).

I will have to get the chocolate moulds and cookie cutters out of the cupboard, i didn't even use them this year and they take up so much room!

Happy birthday for the 29th.. My birthday is the 30th and we don't take our decorations down until afterwards. It's always been a tradition in our family that my birthday presents go under the tree…

Having said that though, this year, I bought one of those storage containers from BIG W and have put all my tree decorations and other Christmas stuff in that, and then put it behind the "bar" area in our loungeroom. It never gets used, and so that's become our storage area.

Happy Birthday to you to Gail, I hope you enjoyed your special day!! Perfect space to store the tree. I have always wanted to consider putting ours in the roof, but I'm just not too sure any bugs or spiders will get in???
