Organising school supplies for next year

by Katrina - The Organised Housewife

It’s that time of year that you may have received your kids booklist for 2011.  Our booklists need to be ordered and paid for this week.  But do remember that you don’t need to buy every item on the list, your kids will bring home their scissors, calculators, USB sticks and spare exercise books at the end of the school year.

List the items from the booklist you are hoping will return home.  Older children can check items themselves, however if you have younger children either visit the classroom or send an email of your list to your childs teacher.  Ask when they have time if they or the student can check if they have not lost some items and that they will be returning home.  By doing this it will reduce the cost of next years booklist bill and also eliminate double up of some items.  Also remember that kids use some the the same text books from the previous year so just confirm if your child does have to buy a second copy.

I always buy new crayons, pencils, texta’s, pens, pencils and pencil cases each year, makes for a fresh new start.  The pencils etc they bring home at end of year go into their home pencil containers.  I rarely buy new colouring pencils for home.

More on back to school organising early next year.
