Our bookpacks have arrived and it’s time to start covering books. When my kids first started school I loved the idea of finding the fun contact designs and covering their books. Now, 5 years later if you say the word contact around me I may scream. Contact is not my friend. Despite trying so hard I rarely was able to cover a book without lumps and bubbles appearing. I really persevered during their prep and grade 1 years. But when stationary shopping for grade 2 I came across some book slip covers at Officeworks. These back to school, book covering sanity savers have made covering books so much easier these past few years.
This year I am using Book Covers from 4myEarth. They come in a great range of designs and sizes, for exercise books, A4 books and scrapbooks. What I love about the 4myEarth range of book covers are the boys designs. A lot of covers I have seen have a range for just the young boys, but Mr nearly 10 thinks his covers are sooo cool… there are skulls, zombies (creepy but 10-year-old think it’s cool) music and more.

Alternative to using contact
I’ve also covered some books with wrapping paper, found a card that Miss 9 had received. She loves pigs! We cut the design off the front of the card and taped it on using Washi Tape.

I also saw these plastic covered exercise books at Big W, they would save fighting with contact as well.

I am looking for covers with less skulls for my six yr olds they are a great idea and reusing cards too. I will have to check out washi tape.
4myearth have a range for the younger kids too, there is one with dinosaurs.
Thanks for the tip re other designs – just had a squizzy on the 4myearth website & they have quite a few designs & sizes. I like that they had some for scrapbook size. Just wondering if they were easy to put on as there are no pics. They also say they are reusable, so I guess they just slip on?
I use the plastic covered exercise books from Big W (also available @ Officeworks) and get my kids to cover them in stickers from the $2 / Reject Shop – they choose the stickers.

I use the book covers for my kids from stencil which seem to be similar to the range above. They just slip on and I reuse some of them from year to year as you can just wipe them over with spray and wipe to get them clean. They are bit more expensive than the ones I have bought from office works but seem to last multiple years.
We use the ones at ezcover.net.au which are great quality, made from recycled materials and are only $1.20 each. Sandra
When I went to the news agent today to collect my sons books. I asked if they cover them and with what…..she showed me the cover I think they r a great idea. no more fighting with contact
I love the fairy tea party cover – my girls would adore it! No school in our family for a couple more years yet but I’m hearing lots of friends talking about looking for an easier way to cover than contact. The dreaded words “Contacting and labelling”. How “Back To School” goes from excitement to frustration to parents 🙂 Just contact our books last week and another recommendation if you have to contact – steer clear of foil contact as they are the worst for bubbles. Wish I had known about these book covers prior to contacting. Thanks for the tip I will be looking into it next year.

my 3 boys love the skulls and zombies but their are tractors,nature scenes and animals too.
I have that onlyc ‘Contact’ brand is any good to work with, it is really no more expensive than other brands and is usually available at both Big W and your local newsagent 🙂

I have used these for the last 2 years & have brought more for this year, but after 12mths in a school bag there not looking the best, I need to buy new ones. That doesn’t bother me as I hate contact & with having a son with autism one bubble isn’t good. The A4 ones from office works I find don’t fit anything bigger than 96-128pge. BigW ones & ezcovers do & are great. I wish they had better range of designs for older boys through (High School)
