The Organised Housewife Cleaning Checklist

by Katrina - The Organised Housewife

Spring has sprung! Are you ready to spring clean your house? Whether it’s washing the walls, cleaning the pantry or decluttering the house, I have you sorted with my cleaning checklist.

During the colder months the energy of the house can become stagnant and some of those cleaning tasks can be forgotten about. With spring comes the urge to freshen up and air out the house, clean from top to bottom and welcome in the lighter and the warmer weather. When everything is clean, decluttered, and organised, your mind feels clearer, and your overall mood can feel lighter. You may feel overwhelmed at the thought of starting your spring cleaning, but you don’t have to tackle everything at once, remember Rome wasn’t built in day!

So where do you begin? That’s where I come in!

I have simplified the cleaning process with the Organised Housewife Cleaning Checklist. I created this checklist when I first started the blog back in 2010 and have been using it ever since. The Checklist is easy to follow, so you won’t become overwhelmed with all the tasks. Tackle each room one step at a time.

I’ve broken down the cleaning tasks into:

  • daily
  • weekly
  • monthly
  • quarterly
  • annual

This way you don’t have to try and attempt to clean every room in the house, all at once. I have also added a bonus page so you can write your own weekly routine. This 2 page cleaning checklist is split into room categories which allows for easy viewing. Each task has a checkbox, you know you love putting a big tick next to tasks you have accomplished! You can laminate the pages and use them like a whiteboard where you can rub off with a tissue to start again the following week. I’ve created extra spaces for you to write in your own personal tasks too.

5/5
Best checklist ever. I put mine on the fridge, no particular job is for anyone in particular, but there is an expectation that our family works as a team to get through our checklist. So much more is getting done and it’s not all falling on me.

We all lead busy lifestyles and time can often get away from us, so if you still feel a bit overwhelmed with making a start, you can split your cleaning routine into small, manageable tasks. Set aside 10 minutes and decide which room you want to start in. When we do this, it doesn’t feel like a big job and can easily become a part of your daily routine. Get the family involved and make them accountable for their own spaces.

To help making cleaning the whole house easier create yourself a cleaning kit which has everything you need for every room in the house all in one caddy. For ideas have a look at my cleaning kit, it makes going from room to room so much easier!

When you do start cleaning a room, try and complete that room first before moving onto another one, believe me the result is worth it! The cleaning checklist makes it easier for you to see which tasks can wait and which ones need attention on a more regular basis.
