Hair products, toothpaste, makeup and cosmetics can all cause a mess in the bathroom sink. Here’s how I clean the bathroom sink for a sparkling finish.
We use so many products at the bathroom sink, so it’s not surprising that mess can build up quickly. Limescale and soap scum can pool around the taps and drain, which is unsightly and can harbour bacteria and grime. Keep your bathroom sparkling and fresh with regular quick cleans and occasional deep cleans.

steps to clean the bathroom sink
Quick clean
1.
Spray tapware, sink, drain and benchtop with cleaner and wipe with a cleaning cloth. Use a mini cleaning brush to get into those hard-to-reach areas.
2.
To remove stubborn build-up around tapware and the sink drain, dab on some cleaning paste and leave for 10 minutes. If using Lemon Soda Paste, spray with vinegar and leave a further 5 minutes. Use a mini brush to remove build-up.
3.
Rinse with a damp cloth.
4.
Polish tapware with a dry cleaning cloth.
Deep clean
1.
If possible, remove the drain cover. Some drain covers cannot be removed.
2.
Soak the sink plug and rain cover in 1 cup vinegar for 5 minutes.
3.
Scrub with a mini brush to remove any build-up.
4.
Spray drain with cleaner. Dab some cleaning paste on a mini brush and scrub inside to remove mould build-up.
5.
Rinse drain. Clean around the top of the plug hole with cleaning spray and a cloth.
6.
Place the drain cover back.
7.
Sprinkle 1/4 cup bicarb soda down the drain followed by 1/2 cup vinegar to freshen. Sit for 15 minutes. Wash away with water.
How often?

Kat’s tip: To prevent mineral deposits, keep water from pooling around the taps by regularly wiping them down with a cloth or towel.
