I’ve been blogging now for 3 back to school seasons, so today I wanted to share with you some of my previous tips and projects I have shared and in the coming days I will share with you more new ideas.
10 back to school money saving ideas
This school bag nook has been brilliant. The kids know to unpack their school bag and hang their bags onto the hooks. Keeps them out off the floor and out of the way.
Here are more great ideas
I don’t like my girls wearing their hair down at school. It’s always up and I love putting it up for them.
Braiding would be my favourite style, keeps it off their face.
Make their wardrobe easy to access their school uniforms

Last year in term 4 I finally set up a homework centre: a magazine box for each child to hold their homework books and home readers. With one still on a reading log but no home reader, it made a convenient spot for her to put all the books she had read so it was easier for me to keep her log up to date. I also made up a box of Homework Stationery – textas, pencils, crayons, scissors, ruler, glue, sharpener, eraser – which is ONLY out for homework. No more delays about “I couldn’t find a pencil”!
Also, we just changed sleeping arrangements, so with the attendant changeover in wardrobes, we have made a designated uniform drawer/shelf for each child, and their school socks are in a separate container in the socks drawer. Hopefully fewer mornings of “I can’t find my socks!” or “Where are my shorts?”
Sounds so organised, we have a homework station too and makes it so much easier to find things. Great work!
Hi Kat & others – just wondering where you all store your kids’ library bags & wet weather gear (raincoats/umbrellas) when not in use. These don’t fit into our schoolwear drawers (which I did like Tammy). Would be grateful for any suggestions 🙂
