If you’ve ever had to deal with unexpected spills, pet mess, or muddy footprints, a spot cleaner is such a practical tool to have on hand, it helps tackle messes quickly without needing to pull out a bulky carpet cleaner. I was sent the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP™ Brushless Spot Cleaner to review (this isn’t a paid review), and these are my honest thoughts after using it around my home. This arrived at the perfect time, I’d been wanting a spot cleaner to make quick cleanups easier. I already own a big carpet cleaner, but pulling it out for small spills or pet mess always felt like more effort than it was worth. One of the first things I loved about the Ryobi Spot Cleaner is that it’s cordless, it makes quick cleanups so much easier without the hassle of plugging in or dragging around a heavy machine.

First Impressions
The setup was super easy. The instructions were clear, and everything about it felt intuitive. I didn’t have to fuss around figuring out how it works, which I really appreciated. It’s also surprisingly lightweight around 4.7kg (with the battery), which made it even easier to carry around the home without any strain.
Where I’ve Used It Around My Home
I’ve used the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Spot Cleaner on fabric surfaces like our couch, where pets leave drool patches and darker marks over time and it handled those spots beautifully. I also gave it a go on fabric car seats, and being cordless made it so much easier to manoeuvre without feeling restricted by a power cord. I can already see how handy this will be for all kinds of little accidents and everyday messes around the home.
It would be especially helpful for families with young kids, perfect to have on hand for those unexpected moments like bedwetting accidents, when a quick clean-up is needed without dragging out a full-size carpet cleaner.
Cleaning Performance
Some of the stains had been there for a while, and I knew they’d need a little extra help. So I sprayed on some carpet cleaner first to give the Ryobi a boost and it lifted most of the marks really well. Watching the dirty water get sucked up is oddly satisfying (tell me I’m not the only one who enjoys that!).
It had strong suction and drew out quite a bit of water, yet didn’t leave the couch soaking wet, which is always a bonus. I simply open up the windows and declared the couch a no-sit zone for a few hours to let it dry properly.
You can really see the difference here, my couch was a lot dirtier than I realised. So satisfying to see how much it lifted!

Ease of Use
Because it’s battery-operated, I didn’t have to worry about cords getting in the way. It felt light and comfortable to use, and the attachments all clip neatly onto the unit, so it’s easy to store and keep together.

One attachment I absolutely loved was the crevice tool. It made cleaning those hard-to-reach spots, like the corner where my cat loves to wipe her mouth (why do they do that?!), so much easier than I’ve experienced with other spot cleaners.

Cleaning the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Spot Cleaner
One thing I really appreciated was how easy it was to clean the machine after use. All the nozzles and parts are simple to remove, rinse, and dry. It didn’t feel fiddly or time-consuming, which is important for me, I want a spot cleaner that’s quick to use and just as quick to pack away once I’m done.

Handy Features & Things to Know
- I can clean both couches with just one tank of clean water and didn’t need to stop and refill.
- The tanks are easy to remove and empty.
- It’s always best to start with a fully charged battery. This spot cleaner uses the same 18V battery as my other Ryobi tools, which is super handy. I already had a few on hand, so when one ran out, I could just swap it over. Just a note, the battery isn’t included with the purchase of the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Spot Cleaner.
- My only small gripe is that you need to use Ryobi’s own cleaning solution, which seems to be standard with many brands, but I’d love the flexibility to use my own.
Final Thoughts
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
If you have pets, kids, or even just a well-loved couch, this spot cleaner is such a handy little tool to have around. I imagine it would also be incredibly useful for quick mattress cleanups or even car seats. It’s practical, efficient, and easy to use—just what I need in this season of life.
