I know so many people who have a problem with too many reusable shopping bags! There are so many cute reusable bags out there that people sometimes grab more than they actually need. The first thing to do before trying to work out a storage system is to throw away or recycle any bags you do not need or use or that are broken and unusable. Although people have an abundance of reusable shopping bags, they are a great way to make your trip to the grocery store eco-friendly and sustainable. People everywhere are stocking up on reusable canvas, cotton, jute, hemp and and recycled PET bags. With all these bags at home and in the car, what is the best way to store them?
I myself get my groceries delivered but when I do go into the supermarket on the odd occasion, I take my laundry basket with folding legs. By doing this I just being the washing basket into my kitchen from the car and flick the legs out and put all the groceries away – easy!

I had one of our community members write in and ask how everyone stores their shopping bags so I put it out to the rest of the community. Here are some of the responses.
Deb Taylor – I give them back to Coles when they bring my next delivery
Tanya Jane – I put a couple of bags into each of my suitcases/travel bags so can be used for dirty clothes or shoes, etc. have a few folded and tucked away in my boot in case I forget my main group of bags.
Christine Baxter – I fold them into triangles and then they are stored in a cardboard box covered in contact from Kmart, and kept under my kitchen sink.
Stav Ioannidis – I fold them over 3 times then in half and put them in the freezer bag and into the boot of my car.
Rachael Walton – We have filled a bean bag instead of using those beans… hidden and easy to access if we need one.
Allana Kaye – we have a little basket near the washing machine, like a clothes hamper. I hate having too many though, I give them to op shops and food hamper places who can reuse them.
Debbie Cowie – I gave up on the bags. I have 3 collapsible crates. At the till I repack straight back into the trolley. The check out chicks and jocks love me. And then pack into the crates in the car. Takes less time to unpack at home. Crates go straight back into car.
Aimee Clark – In a pringles tin, best hack ever! I even covered it in book contact. It holds about 6-8 bags, so easy in the car.
Elizabeth Rounsley – I use them as rubbish bags. As the biodegradable ones are crap and you have to use multiples so they don’t break. Cheap to buy Coles or Woolworths bags and use them. But like everyone else store them all inside another bag. Also if you do click and collect you get as many as you need for $1.
