I love reading all the comments for this post. My partner does all the ironing. I can't/won't iron. If it needs ironing, I give it away. I fold all washing as it comes off the line. And I hang what should be looked after a bit more. But my partner irons either the kids or his own clothes as they are pulled out of the wardrobes. I try to have tomorrow clothes pulled out before we go to bed, so he irons then. I do make it even however. I love being in the garden, and I do help with mowing and the garden up keep....

My ironing basket is kept in the laundry. I fold anything that I can, straight off the line. Anything that has to be ironed gets done of a Sunday night, ready for the week. I love seeing my basket empty for the start of the week. It also means that I don't have to panic each morning to iron uniforms (I'm so not a morning person) and get to sleep in a little longer.

I don't have an ironing pile/basket either. Everything gets folded and put away after washing and in the evening I just iron the kids uniforms and whatever I want to wear for the next day and that's it. Takes about 15 mins and it's done. I just can't bring myself to do hours of ironing in one go. I have too many other fun things I would rather be doing ;)

I had to think about this post for a while. I've fallen into the trap of having a plastic tub in front of the tv unit pretty much permanently which is full of my ironing to be done and I hate it. It goes away when I know I have visitors coming but for anyone who drops in, it is on display for all to see. Reading this post made me really think about this. Our side cabinets in our tv unit contain the kids' hard cover books on the left, and I've take the door off it's hinges to allow the kids access to the books rather than having to open the door all the time, and on the other side, our dvds etc with the door in place (we removed the handle when the kids were little - they couldn't open it without but we could still manage).
The kids never use these books any more (mind you, the minute I started thinking about getting rid of them, they went back to them again - doh!) so I am going to pack them up and move them. I'm going to get a proper book case and some might go in there, but the tv unit is going to have it's door put back in place, and I'm going to find some pretty fabric or paper to cover the glass doors and in goes my washing. Thank you so much for this post! I'm so sure that not looking at my ironing all day will do a lot for my sanity!!

My ironing basket is also in our wardrobe but my system is I cut my Mum's hair she takes a bag of ironing & then I only have to iron it if I really need it.
Katrina the baskets look great. Would you know where I could find something similar but smaller (like to fit in the Ikea expedit series bookcase) maybe in a faux leather? I can't seem to find any & you seem to have agood eye for storage.
Thanks
