i just found you on Pinterest…. my kids wear mismatched socks as it seems to be the style now…. can’t bring myself to do that yet. Love your site! My new year’s resolution is to be more organized….

I blogged about this issue recently. After having dramas with missing socks, I brought my husband 10 pairs of identical black socks for Fathers Day so that pairing wouldn’t be an issue. Thanks Katrina. With four kids there is always plenty of odd socks. I keep these separate and overtime they tend to match up but it is time to start tossing those that have been sitting lonely for a while. We have an issue where the kids MUST, and I do mean MUST, run their hands along the walls as they walk by so now they can each have one of their lonely socks and happily run their hands along the wall cleaning it for me.

It drives me nuts not having matching socks paired up after washing. I keep a basket under the change table where I throw odd (clean) socks after doing the laundry. Every few weeks I go through the basket and I find heaps of matching pairs that go back into the draws…. After a while I know what socks (or slippers) have no pairs

I have this box with a mixture of socks and undies. Over time t-shirts and other clothes also found their way in there. But I hardly ever took the time to match and fold the socks; despite that I bought special washable sock clips, I always dumped them unsorted into or near the box in the assumption that I will still find everything. Of course I did not, long searches in the morning and complaints “where are matching socks, we need to buy some more”. Now I finally cleaned up the box: I dumped 1 bag of ripped or single socks. But we still have for 2 people a total of 40 sock pairs… This is a lesson to always properly match and fold the socks…
