I am also in the “removing shoes when entering the house” camp – having lived in Asia for many years it was an automatic thing to remove shoes on entering someone’s house. Here, in the winter months, if you have tiles (which can be cold underfoot) it is a nice touch to supply those little slip on towelling scuffs which the hostess can provide near the front door. I also have flip-flops to pop on when venturing outside to water garden etc.ReplyCancel

    LOVING THE CHRISTMAS SERIES !!

A big Thank You to you Katrina for the Organised Christmas series. I have not followed every day to the letter, but have enjoyed reading the series each day and have definitely implemented some of the suggestions, craft and recipe ideas.
Our children broke up from school on 6th December. Inspired by the series, I have been more organised than I have been in YEARS for Christmas. I had all the kids’ teacher gifts etc purchased, wrapped and ready to go two weeks before school break up. ALL my Christmas shopping was completed and the gifts wrapped and hidden away prior to break up. I’m not kidding, I CAN’T REMEMBER the last time this was done so early ! It has been such a relief. The series inspired me to plan the Advent Calendar gifts and activities and because all the other Christmas stuff was taken care of, I have had time to really enjoy this time with the kids. They have been so excited to get up each day and find out what we are up to. My husband works away and came home for the Christmas break on Friday. I am going to hospital this morning for a minor operation on my knee. Last night I handed over the bag of advent activity cards and treats to hubby so he can take care of the next week’s shenanigans, but it was so GREAT to have it all organised and ready to go !
I purchased an “Elf on the Shelf” and the kids have just LOVED his daily antics – I hadn’t even heard of it ’til I read about it on TOH.

I am ashamed to say that it has been at least 5 YEARS since I sent out Christmas cards. Inspired by the series, I have our Christmas letter printed and ready to go and will spend this morning writing out cards so they are ready for hubby to post tomorrow.
Thanks again. The series has been inspiring, motivating and IT WORKS :) ReplyCancel

    • Julia, you have bought tears to my eyes, happy tear, this so so beautiful I am so so glad that you have enjoyed the series and it has helped to make a difference to your Christmas, the whole and sole purpose of me writing it was to help others that find this time overwhelming. Thank you for writing and letting me know how you went. I hope that your little op went alright and your family spoil and pamper you over the next week. Look after yourself and enjoy every moment, laughter and delicious goodies Christmas will provide you xxReplyCancel
