    For large wall surfaces I use a microfibre mop (one that has a flat head) with sugar soap, it makes a tedious task into a quick one :-)ReplyCancel

    I use a squeegee mop to do the walls. I keep one just for walls.. You can do a larger area that way a lot quicker than by hand.ReplyCancel

  • It’s quite funny to know that a tea tree oil can be use for cleaning the wall. Also I have baking soda in our house most of the time they are just being wasted when not in use. Truly your tips are amazing and very useful. I will try these tips in times of needs.

  • With a newly turned three year old and an almost two year old I’m certainly in that ‘hopeless caus’ phase! It doesn’t help that our living area is made up of two walls of bifold doors and they are ALWAYS covered in little finger and hand prints! I do try and give them a good clean down at least once a month, just so I can enjoy clean windows for a good 10 minutes or so! I will certainly be giving this homemade glass cleaner a try – thanks!ReplyCancel

    From when my children were about 18 months old I taught them to “look with their eyes”, not their hands, thus clean windows! One does not need their hands to see through a window! This also applied in shops, so they never touched anything on display and I’ve never had to panic about paying for breakages.ReplyCancel

    Here’s the Lazy Window Cleaner’s recipe – obviously just for the outside of windows as you’ll see…

    2 litres of warm water
    2 tablespoons laundry detergent (1 tbsp Morning Fresh)
    1 tablespoon of rinse aid

    Wash the windows with a sponge with this solution, HOSE THEM DOWN working from across the top and down and then walk away!
    The water ‘sheets’ down to give a streak free finish just as it does on glasses in your dishwasher.ReplyCancel

      i think i have used morning fresh and rinse aid and washed windows just like this!!! today at our old rental my mum cleaned my windows with a dustpan brush and hot soapy water (dish liquid) and the hosed off….worked a treat…lots of finger prints from little 21month old!!!ReplyCancel

    Just wondering about the vinegar, i used to clean my floors with it but my husband didn’t like the house smelling like vinegar, is there a particular vinegar to use maybe i used too much? Can you smell the vinegar?

      Hi Kelly, I only ever clean with vinegar. Maybe try again, to give you an idea i use 2 litres of water to a very small dash of vinegar ( about 1/3 cup) i just use the coles homebrand vinegar. I hope it works better for you.:)ReplyCancel

  • I take my shoes off the millisecond I get home because I don’t like wearing shoes. Everyone else at mine takes their shoes off in various locations in the house (that’s annoying, lol), but because we all have bare feet or socks inside, visitors tend to take their shoes off, too. They don’t have to – and I really don’t mind if they don’t! But if I go to someone else’s house I don’t take my shoes off unless they request it.

    The Minions will be looking for things to do this weekend, so I shall be getting them to do the low down bits of the entry at ours. It’s cluttered up with a box of shoes, and as we have a doggie… copious hair!ReplyCancel

    i am about to move into our new house, i will be following along with this new series to keep my place under control…my aim is to keep my place respectable each day so i wont have to worry if i have unexpected guests….also i love the shoe sign. i have printed this and will be adding to my front door. all my guests get asked to remove shoes, even the plumber takes them off…in our rental we have white carpet, and i am over the stains….our new place has light carpets currently until we renovate, but even after that i want my floor boards protected…my guests don’t mind removing shoes…most people i know remove shoes in their homes too.ReplyCancel
